ABOUT THIS CARVING
Full Inscription: The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it. - Emerson
Origins: We turned to the comfortable style of William Morris to create this carving to properly welcome visitors into any home. We envision this piece proudly displayed in an entry hall or great room — wherever friends and family are greeted and entertained.
If you read the full text of this passage, Emerson explains the great value he placed on friends and friendship. In fact, it seems he believed that gathering, welcoming and interacting with friends was a primary and essential function of a home and its residents.
