Origins: Thoreau - Lake Carving
This thought is from Chapter 9 of Thoreau’s 1854 Walden. Anyone who has spent a tranquil summertime moment on or near a lake will immediately identify with Thoreau’s emotion. For some reason, a lake can stir thoughts or settle them and people find themselves drawn to lakes the world over for very different reasons – either to think or not to think. In any case, we think you’ll like this piece as much as we do.
The lettering is a calligraphic style from the 1800’s and is of American origin. The dragonfly ornament is ours alone and we’re very pleased with how it captures the essence of this remarkable creature. A great piece for the lake home – or the place you live when you can’t be at the lake!$289.95
