ABOUT THIS CARVING
Full Inscription: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. - Robert Frost
Origins: American poet Robert Frost was the recipient numerous awards and recognitions during his life including four Pulitzer Prizes. In 1922, he was named Poet laureate of Vermont. Our carving is of arguably his most well known verse from one of his most famous poems. Standing on its own, the statement is most often taken as a reaffirmation of decisions made or an encouragement to think and act differently or independently.
We used a turn of the 19th century American calligraphic letterform with some subtle organic/art nouveau overtones paired with a beautiful "two roads diverged" ornamental detail to make this carving appealing to most everyone. A simple test of our success in a design is if, when displayed, people irresistibly reach out to run their fingers over the carved details - and this piece passes the test every time.

Recommended Finish: Our lighter toned Classic Oak finish works with many interiors and finishes and helps to create greater contrast to show off the many carving details of this piece to best advantage as well as helping to improve readability at greater distance. However, please also take note of our Vintage Cherry finish which we believe works exceptionally well with the sentiment of this piece as well as the slightly relaxed style of the letterform and carved ormanent.
